Anna Ya Qi Xuan is current earning her BFA in Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. She creates artwork in many different mediums ranging from digital programs such as Photoshop, Blender, and ZBrush, to traditional methods such as watercolor, oils, gouache, and bookbinding.
My practice primarily focuses on building narratives through visual development. Through a variety of digital mediums, my work investigates researched historical information necessary to building believable story-telling and original designs. Based mainly in fantasy, the stories I'm inspired by are those that not only tell of extraordinary adventures, but stories that are able to utilize the trappings of fantastical design sense to tell personal stories. I am especially interested in stories that depict the course of childhood and the complexities of the coming-of-age process. Through my work I hope to tell stories that will create a lasting impact on audiences like the stories that have had a profound influence on me.
